A story that we are still writing

I Sörì di Diano d’Alba was established in the 1960s, as an expression of the enthusiasm and passion of the association’s founders, winemakers based in the municipality of Diano, for Dolcetto.

The Sixties

The long and invaluable promotion of the local production of Dolcetto wine began, with the first commercial events.

3 May 1974

The first tangible result was achieved with the official recognition of the Designation of Controlled Origin.

27 September 1986

The map of the vocated areas of the Municipality of Diano for the attribution of the vineyard designation was posted on the municipal notice board. This was the first time that a municipality adopted an advanced agricultural planning tool.
Thanks to the involvement of a number of celebrities, with prizes dedicated to prestigious figures such as Pier Cesare Baretti, a genuine sense of sharing was developed. The fellowship and energy created resulted in the development of a warm atmosphere and the desire to build and grow together.

26 May 1996

I Sörì di Diano was founded, with the aim of increasing knowledge based on accurate studies on and activities relating to the production of the wines of Diano. The Association’s role was to encourage, promote and share the local viticulture throughout Italy and abroad. Visionary skills and a spirit of collaboration were the starting point of a process to boost the recognition of Dolcetto di Diano d’Alba.

6 December 1999

Thanks to the intuition of two of the town’s sadly departed mayors, Lorenzo Destefanis and Gianfranco Alessandria, the municipality of Diano founded the permanent Cantina Comunale del Dolcetto di Diano d’Alba, at number 11 Via Umberto I, where the new wine shop, Cantina Comunale dei Sörì, was inaugurated.

2 August 2010

Dolcetto di Diano d’Alba or Diano d’Alba, was acknowledged with the Designation of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin – DOCG.

Today

At this extraordinary time in history, in which sharing has been considered a non-essential activity, imposing huge restrictions on new events and experiences, we continue to offer our support and voice to the projects of I Sörì di Diano.

The Association’s aim is still to encourage the production and sale of local products, with a particular emphasis on the role of Diano d’Alba, an outstanding Dolcetto from the luxuriant vineyards of the municipality of the same name.

We want to inspire people to learn more about the production of Diano’s wines, embarking on a journey to explore the huge potential of our 43 estates in the vast and fascinating world of wine.

The Enoteca is elegantly housed in a historical building at the foot of the Belvedere. This wine shop offers visitors the chance to lose themselves in the world of Dolcetto, tasting one of the 53 different labels available on the premises.

A place dedicated to bringing people together, achieving a total and profound awareness of the flavours and aromas of the territory with a selection of the finest wines, with more than 160 different labels.
